Description
Superstar violinist Leila Josefowicz sets fire to the concerto from the celebrated conductor/composer Esa-Pekka Salonen. The wistful side of its personality sprang from his composing it at the close of his magnificent 17-year term as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. It won the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for 2012.
Come for: Exhilarating works by John Adams including his own Slonimsky's Earbox, his witty tribute to two of the twentieth century's most remarkable musicians, Igor Stravinsky and Nicholas Slonimsky.
Come for: Ontario-born Leila Josefowicz premières a concerto written especially for her.
