Mahler’s Seventh is the most unique of all of his symphonies—a gallery of five sharply etched portraits embracing everything from commanding fanfares and marches to the eerie nocturnal rustlings of a diabolical scherzo and a restful serenade that includes solos for guitar and mandolin. Illustrious pianist Louis Lortie joins Sir Andrew Davis and the TSO for César Franck’s charming set of variations for piano and orchestra.
